Immigration Justice

Mission and Purpose
Formed in 2018, this ministry focuses on practicing Christian hospitality and welcoming our immigrant neighbors.  We advocate for reform of immigration laws that have undermined basic human rights for immigrants and join with others of good will in a call for legalization opportunities for the maximum number of undocumented persons, particularly those who have built equities and otherwise contributed to their communities. We encourage engagement with immigrants in our local community to  learn, join in solidarity, honor human dignity, and protect families.

Spiritual Foundation
Our work is grounded in the belief that every person is created in God’s image. We align with the USCCB’s teachings that identify Jesus with the marginalized and emphasize the obligation of nations to respect the human rights of migrants. We concur with Pope Leo’s recent statement on June 11, 2026 when he stressed that the church has a particular role to play in welcoming migrants, which he said "cannot be a secondary matter that is left to a few volunteers.”  (See article here:  https://www.ncronline.org/vatican/pope-leo-prays-deadly-migration-hotspot-spain-human-dignity-has-no-passport)  Our actions are further guided by the seven themes of Catholic Social Teaching
