Mission & Purpose
The Social Justice Ministry at Lumen Christi promotes the Gospel values of dignity, justice, and care for creation through service to our parish, local community, environment, and world.

Spiritual Foundation
Our ministry is guided by Catholic Social Teaching, which applies the Gospel message and centuries of Christian experience to the injustices of the modern world. We seek to uphold the dignity of every person and all creation.

Goals
Our goal is to demonstrate our faith in God and belief in the Gospel message through action, self-education, and prayer. We strive to actively address the many issues that threaten our sisters and brothers and our world.

Social Justice Ministry Council Meetings and InvolvementWe invite everyone to participate in our monthly meetings, held on the 3rd Wednesday of every month, 5:00 PM – 6:30 PM, in the 1st Floor Conference Room at LCCC. If you cannot attend our meetings, you are still welcome to be on our mailing list so you can learn about our efforts and join in any way you can.

The Environmental Justice ministry is a Catholic community that practices creation care as an act of faith, which is defined as the adequate response to God’s Love. We encourage engagement and education for and about our environment.

Mission & PurposeImmigrationThe Immigration Justice ministry focuses on practicing Christian hospitality and welcoming our immigrant neighbors. We advocate for reform of immigration laws that have undermined basic human rights for immigrants and join with others of goodwill in a call for legalization opportunities for the maximum number of undocumented persons, particularly those who have built equities and otherwise contributed to their communities. We encourage engagement with immigrants in our local community to learn, to join in solidarity, to honor human dignity, and to protect families.

Mission & PurposeRacial/IndigenousThe Racial and Indigenous Justice Ministry builds solidarity and allyship for justice with our neighbors who are Black, Indigenous, and people of color. Our work is grounded in relationships among members of our ministry and with our neighbors. We partner with other faith communities and organizations that share our values and commitments to justice. We grow our relationships, our understanding, and our skills through education and encounter.
