In our August 30/31 bulletin, I shared an article about the excitement surrounding the start of school and a prayer for our students, teachers, and staff. I submitted that bulletin on Monday and it was delivered to us at the Parish office on Wednesday. It was delivered on the day when the joy and innocence to starting school was shattered.

Bring Your Kids to Mass for Children's Liturgy of the Word! Sundays | During 10:30 AM Mass | Ages 4 and up As parents, you are the first and most important teachers of your child’s faith. We invite you to nurture that faith by bringing your children to our Children’s Liturgy of the Word! Why Bring Your Kids? ~Engaging Faith: Children hear the Sunday readings in words they can understand, helping them grow closer to God. ~Interactive Learning: Our team of dedicated volunteers leads kids through age-appropriate activities, discussions, and prayers. ~Community and Belonging: It's a wonderful opportunity for children to participate in the Mass with other young believers and know they’re an important part of the parish. ~Support for Parents: While your children attend the liturgy, you’ll be able to fully engage in the Mass, knowing that your little ones are learning and growing in faith. No registration is required! Children will be invited forward after the opening prayer to join in their own special liturgy. We can’t wait to welcome your family!

2nd Annual Lumen Christi Craft Fair – Saturday, November 8 We’re excited to invite you to the 2nd Annual Lumen Christi Craft Fair, happening on Friday, November 8, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM in our Community Room at Lumen Christi Catholic Community.

175th Anniversary Book Bring home 175 years of Archdiocesan History! Lumen Christi is excited to share two new Archdiocesan books available for parishioners to purchase.

The 13th annual Highland Park Turkey Trot (HPTT) once again brought our community together on Thanksgiving morning, reinforcing its status as a cherished local tradition. This 5K event promotes health and camaraderie and exemplifies the spirit of giving, with 100% of race proceeds benefiting two outstanding organizations: Highland Friendship Club and Highland Catholic School. highlandparkturkeytrot.com

For as long as anyone can remember, weekly envelope giving was the norm here at Lumen Christi and in Catholic parishes around the country.

As we begin a new year, I’ve been reflecting on how I spend my time and how I can deepen my connection with God. One thought that struck me is how little time it truly takes to make a meaningful impact on our spiritual lives. With that in mind, I’ve decided to challenge myself to dedicate at least one hour a week to attending Mass—52 hours over the entire year. Out of the grand total of 8,760 hours in a year, that is just .59% of the entire year spent at Mass.

Lumen Christi Catholic Community is pleased to announce the appointment of Max Huber as its new Parish Director. A familiar face to many, Max has served as the parish’s Communications Director for the past two and a half years and has been a member of the parish since 2016.

Our first craft sale in years will be this weekend, Saturday, November 9th, in our Community Room.

Our neighbors: The hungry and the homeless Proverbs 22:9 Whoever has a bountiful eye will be blessed, for he shares his bread with the poor. As announced recently after Mass, via the Bulletin, and other messaging, Lumen Christi is launching small groups as way for parishioners to encounter their spiritual journey with others.

We are excited to introduce Joe Kolar, who has joined our team in the newly created Director of Development position.
